Context[Course project? Self-directed? Which term?]

A workwear-cut volume trouser held together by tailoring: a high banded waist, forward pleats, and a gathered cuff that turns a huge leg into a deliberate shape. Lineage: golf plus-fours and knickers, and Japanese nikka-pokka workwear.

The leg is the statement — wide through hip and thigh, pulled in hard at the ankle. Everything else stays quiet: one fabric, one tone, crisp pleats, a clean fly.

Big Volume,
Small Decisions

02 · Customer (assumed)

The Man Who Wants
a Different Shape

Fashion-forward, mixes workwear with tailoring, already owns the wide jean and the pleated chino and wants the next step. Styling risk: volume reads differently on every body.

03 · Proportion (size M, est.)

Fitted Top,
Huge Middle, Tight Exit

Waist 31″ · Hip 47″ · Thigh 37″ · Widest leg 42″ · Cuff 15″. The cuff runs about a third of the widest leg — the ratio that reads as designed, not baggy.

Process

Flat Pattern → Sewn Sample

Step 01

Flat Pattern

Drafted flat: front with forward hip pleats and slant pockets, back with a curved vent over an underlay panel, and a banded cuff gathered down to about a third of the leg's widest point.

Step 02

Cutting the Sample

Pattern pieces traced and cut from heather flannel — tracing wheel and tailor's chalk to transfer the pleat and vent markings before pressing each piece.
